Microsoft Introduces Holiday 2020 Lineup Of Surface Devices

Microsoft today announced a new lineup of Surface devices, having done so just ahead of the holiday season. That timing is notable because there’s hardly a better period of the year for trying to sell any product, least of all a luxury good, and especially in a first-world country like the U.S.

Enter Surface Laptop Go, the new addition to the Surface family that has the most potential to do well in the coming weeks, sales-wise. As you might suspect, that’s because we are not looking at a $2,000 device that this series isn’t short of.

Instead, the Surface Laptop Go is meant to offer an optimal combination of price and performance, having been designed as a capable and well-rounded mid-ranger that starts at $549.99. Which is a pretty commendable price point, especially since Microsoft is (obviously) selling this thing with Windows 10 pre-installed.

If you expect a somewhat more demanding audience, however, a second-generation Surface Pro X is also part of today’s announcement and can already be ordered directly from Microsoft, starting at $1499.99. Additionally, some half a dozen first-party Surface accessories are also being introduced today, led by the Microsoft Designer Compact Keyboard and 4K Wireless Display Adapter, going for $69.99 each.

Adobe Announces Microsoft Partnership Aiming To Make UX History

Creative software conglomerate Adobe Inc. has today announced its latest corporate endeavor in the form of a deeply intertwined and highly publicized partnership with one of the largest technology companies that ever rose to prominence – Windows creator Microsoft.

The newly confirmed collaboration between the two mainstay industry names already began, with its one and only goal being to revolutionize customer and (hence) user experiences through a combination of pioneering design and cutting-edge innovations in the fields of machine learning and other professions associated with artificial intelligence.

The first result of the tie-up comes in the form of C3 AI CRM, a new customer relationship management platform leveraging the full potential of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ecosystem of cross-platform enterprise apps. By combining their data, AI technologies, and highly specific vertical market targets, Adobe and Microsoft are hoping to deliver the biggest revolution of CRM solutions since the field’s very inception a quarter of a century ago.

From a client perspective, today’s news means corporate customers can expect to immediately start benefitting from more accurate product demand and revenue prediction models, unprecedented techniques for lowering churn rates, and equally historic sets of detailed analytics offerings promising to bring a wide variety of software-based products and services to entirely new heights.

Kaira Pro Is Razer’s Best-Yet Xbox Headset

The Razer Kaira Pro is the name of the latest headset from the famous gaming accessory manufacturer; one that marks a number of firsts for the said company. Namely, this is touted as the first headset designed specifically for cloud gaming applications. So, streaming services in the vein of Microsoft’s xCloud and Google Stadia, for example.

Though Razer claims the Kaira Pro has been optimized specifically for the former, so you can expect lower latency and higher audio quality compared to other solutions on the market. What’s more, the Razer Kaira Pro is touted as the company’s best Xbox gaming headset to date due to the fact it has also been optimized to work with the upcoming Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles as seamlessly as possible.

Meaning it should be a textbook example of a plug-and-play solution, except not even the plugging part will necessarily be true seeing how we are looking at a wireless device that only has to be physically connected to a charger, not the actual system it pulls the audio from. The Kaira Pro uses Bluetooth 5.0 and is available for pre-orders in the United States as of today.

It is priced at $149.99 and can currently only be pre-booked from Razer itself. Stateside distributors will begin stocking the device at some point before the end of the year, however.

Microsoft Announces Surface Hub 2S, The Most Advanced Digital Whiteboard Yet

Microsoft today unveiled the new Surface Hub 2S, the successor to the award-winning first-generation product that promises to be the most advanced digital whiteboard ever created.

Designed to help educators and administrators enable collaborative working in their classrooms and conference rooms, the Surface Hub 2S is similar in appearance to its predecessor but offers even more customization options to users, starting with a new series of mounts developed by Steelcase, a company that’s kind of the resident expert for display arms of any sort, with Microsoft reaching out to it specifically in order to get these arms made.

The Surface Hub 2S offers a massive, 85-inch display area that you can use to collaborate with a large number of colleagues in real time, whether in terms of actual interaction or for the simple purpose of presenting data. It is also compatible with the latest Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise app suite from Microsoft, just make sure you have the latest OS update up and running.

Microsoft is accepting pre-orders for the Surface Hub 2S 85″ as of today. Only in the United States, mind you, though Canada shouldn’t have to wait for too long to join in on the digital whiteboarding fun. First orders in the U.S. are promised to begin arriving in January.

Stateside pricing starts at $8,999.99, so make sure to buy in bulk, duh.

Microsoft Rolling Out Eye Contact, An AI-Powered Teleconferencing Interest Feigner

Microsoft today began rolling out Eye Contact, a teleconferencing interest feigner powered by artificial intelligence that comes in the form of an app, as all things of value do these days. This solution will modify your feed in a way that makes your boss think you’re really into this quarterly report on churn rates across secondary B2B services.

It uses machine learning models trained by Microsoft to do so, and that’s not even the only thing that makes Eye Contact worthy of the cutting-edge tech label. Unfortunately, its other stake to that title is also what makes its availability extremely limited for the time being.

Because Eye Contact has been made specifically for the SQ1, a Microsoft-made custom chipset designed for on-device machine learning applications that shipped inside the Surface Pro X which released in the U.S. last year. And only the Surface Pro X, which is why no other device can currently take advantage of this insane-looking technology, bad pun very much intended.

With that said, Microsoft expects portions of the experience will eventually be ready to be implemented into other, more affordable members of the Surface family. Though it isn’t ready to predict whether that includes some of the existing devices or only those planned to be released in the future.

Microsoft Edge Now Supports Mixed-Reality Browsing Via HoloLens 2

Microsoft has just started rolling out a new beta, or Insider build of its Internet Explorer successor Edge.

The biggest novelty in this revision of the Chromium-based browser has to do with something truly cutting-edge – support for mixed-reality experiences powered by the HoloLens 2, Microsoft’s latest pair of futuristic glasses that has been in the hands of tens of thousands of developers for almost a year to date as of this very moment.

As for the update at hand, note that we are talking about an installer package for Windows 10X that manages to combine the Microsoft Edge codebase with the HoloLens 2 hardware through the power of MXIS, a proprietary Windows app package format that combines the functionality of both .exe programs and compressed archives in order to sieve through to the absolute best aspects of both.

It is worth reminding that both HoloLens generations technically ran Microsoft Edge out of the box, but that was a legacy version of the browser with extremely limited functionality. With this realease, Internet interfacing akin to those scenes we remember from the 2002 thriller Minority Report are finally within reach.

If you happen to have the necessary tech, you can glimpse this potential future of browsing by joining the Microsoft Edge Beta program which is publicly available to all U.S. consumers.
